Adam Heine - Clichés

The drawing board, ad infinitum.

Also it appears my scanner's broken, which is just as well. I've been sick of the old-timey scanner stripes for a while.

Marie Criddle - Cliches

I just saw the Avengers (FINALLY) and---holy cow, guys---I loved it more than a fat kid loves cake.
(Wait, is that not a cliche phrase where you guys are from? Hmm.)

Topic for 6/25 to 7/1

Ranging from the chart-tastic to relaxing to creepy...man, we just got it all covered, don't we? Okay, next week's topic! I was digging through old suggestions and I came up with one that might require some thinking, but is bound to be awesome. Ready?

CLICHES!

Pardon me, I don't know how to add an accent off the top of my head. :D Hopefully this topic'll float your boat and it won't be like being stuck between a rock and a hard place. In two shakes of a lamb's tail, you'll be done!

Good luck!

Adam Heine - Sunshine

Sunshine. They got too much.

Marie Criddle - Sunshine

Wanted to see how I could much black I could add and still evoke sunshine.

Ha, just kidding. I can't draw water and I had to scratch everything out.

Emily and Andy - Sunshine

To me, summer and sunshine are all about hanging out with the kids.  So this week, they're filling in for me!  (Yeah, I know, lame excuse.  But I'm supposed to leave for the ALA Conference in an hour, and I haven't even packed yet!)

Topic for 6/18 to 6/24

You know, I completely blanked this week, guys. We could've totally done Father's Day! And considering more than half of our regulars here ARE fathers? Welp, I just dropped the ball on that. Your father's day present was not to have to draw something about yourself, how's that? :D REady for this week?

SUNSHINE!

...lollipops and rainbows, everything and....oh, wait. Sorry, where was I? Sunshine! Summer is upon us (and depending on where you are, it might have been on you for a while) so hopefully this topic will be a cinch. :) Good luck!

Peter Hong - Swimming

Some kids recently taught me this move. Not that anyone did a backflip off of my shoulders, but hey, it could happen!

Topic for 6/11 to 6/17

Fantastic monsters last week, guys!  I mean, ran the whole gamut, from cute to scary to creepy to mysterious!

In honor of the season upon us (we're all in the northern hemisphere, right?), let's turn our focus to a classic summertime activity:

SWIMMING!!!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting a lot of visual research in, taking my kids to the pool every day.  Have fun, and don't forget to put those pencils down and enjoy the sunshine!

Charles Eubanks - Monsters

This is a tiny peek at the children's picture book I'm in the process of illustrating.  Just a small crop from a much larger picture.  Rest assured, the thing at the other end of that tentacle fits this week's theme.

Peter Hong - Monsters

This "Ghostbusters" version of the Boogeyman always freaked me out as a kid. Now, it can freak you out, too! :P

Adam Heine - Monsters

There is no way I could've drawn something like this without reference* a year ago. Thank you, Marie, for inviting me. And thank you, everyone else, for welcoming my amateur skritches. I feel really fortunate to be a part of this awesome blog.

* Well, I did have one reference: a certain Muybridge homage to figure out where the limbs should go.

Marie Criddle - Monsters

Happy One Year Anniversary, guys! I think the traditional gift this year is "paper," right?

Topic for 6/4 to 6/10

Now I REALLY have to see the Avengers, guys. I'm afraid, though, that I'll be disappointed when I don't see pigeons. Are you ready for this next week?

MONSTERS!

Go take a peek under your child's bed and do some life drawings. Raar! I'm having Calvin and Hobbes flashbacks already.

By the way, this is our 52nd week and the official ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of Anthdrawlogy. Hooray!! Virtual cake and new pens for everyone! I seriously feel so lucky to be a part of this small but crazy creative corner of the web. Thanks, as always, for drawing and playing with us!

Peter Hong - Avengers

The enemy is beneath them (no pun intended...or was it?), if that wasn't clear.

Charles Eubanks - Avengers

Today I had the choice of finishing this picture, or actually going to see the movie.  I chose the latter!

Marie Criddle - The Avengers

I never knew much about the Avengers growing up (was a DC girl myself) so I'm not sure about the constraints of Hulk's metamorphosis. Can he be a happy Hulk? Or does he always have to be mad? Either way, I'm SO excited to see the movie. When it comes back to Japan. Probably in DVD form. Sigh.

Adam Heine - Avengers

This came out of a conversation with Susan Quinn that went too far . . . and then I took it farther.

Apologies to Hawkeye and Black Widow. I didn't really know what to do with you guys and, to be honest, I still don't care about you enough to give you costumes.
