Topic for 8/29 to 9/4

Sorry for the late topic post today, guys! Would you believe me if I said I was busy going back to school? No? Darnit. Well, great job on getting back to school! And as we remember it, school's full of all sorts of great and terrible people, which brings us to this week's topic:

VILLAINS!

MUA HA HA!! Break out that "dastardly" set of pencils you've been saving for just such an occasion. And welcome to new Anthdrawlogists Jono Lucerne and Dave Hudson! Anthdrawlogy loves you both. :D

Back to School - Jono Lucerne

I seem to remember feeling a bit like this when I was back at school (or at least for some of the classes)

Back To School - Helen Cheung

"Bye, Miss You!"
"Bye, the longest three months, don't miss you"
The moment, restoring peace and quiet, reclaiming freedom.
A gleam of the dream,
A dash of hope.
The moment,
she lost herself,
oblivious to
what's lurking behind her.

Topic for 8/22 to 8/28

Those were some fantastic fantasy drawings last week, everyone!

This week's topic is near and dear to some of our hearts:

BACK TO SCHOOL!

Some of us are students.  Some are parents.  Some are both!  I'm sure we all have some unique experiences and memories to bring to the table this week.  As always, have fun!

Peter Hong - Medieval Times

A bunch of knights, dark and otherwise.

Medieval Times -- Kerry Drake

Apparently dragons and floating castles were common back then.

Charles Eubanks - Medieval Times

They say there are cat people and dog people.  Me, I'm a cat person.  But if dragons existed, things might be different.  (NOTE: The intense bald dude in this picture looks nothing like me.)

Marie Criddle - Medieval Times

Another old(er) drawing that luckily fits the theme. I'm having a bit of a go trying to get art up on the computer and to the intertubes here in Japan, so hopefully it's okay to use another recycled drawing. :D Happy Sunday! (Can you believe we're on our TENTH week already??)

Topic for 8/15 to 8/21

Guys, blame my choosing of this week's topic on my recent obsession with George R. R. Martin's GAME OF THRONES, but I thought we could do something in:

MEDIEVAL TIMES!

The restaurant if you want, the actual knights and castles and dragons and whatnot if you don't. Good luck, lords and ladies! If you have any fellow artists that might want to join Anthdrawlogy, please let us know. And if you have any ideas for more topics, leave them in the comments below!

Andy Eubanks - Outer Space

Guest post from my 6-year-old!  He's been on a huge graphic novel kick lately, and this is one of his many creations.

For more of his art, see www.AndyEubanks.com.

Carin Pratt

I asked my son what would be a funny outerspace/alien kind of thing, "Hmm, an alien juggling 50 million tennis balls with his nose."  So I reduced the 50 million to 9 and changed the tennis balls to planets - depending on when you learned the planets, otherwise 8 planets and 1 orbiting something or other.

Marie Criddle - Outer Space

This is actually an old piece from last month but being in transit overseas, I thought I could get away with fudging just a little, time-wise. Pretty please? :D

Helen Cheung, Outer Space

The background is drawn with soft pastel, then I insert the digital couple. I want to see what I will do with circles.

Adam Heine - Outer Space

So many directions I wanted to go, but in the end, this is what was in my head (mostly).

Topic for 8/8 to 8/14

Great Wild West drawings last week, everyone!  This week, we're setting our coordinates for...

Outer Space!

Lots of storytelling possibilities there, right?  Thanks once again to Adam for the suggestion.  Remember, if you have topic ideas, post them in the comments.

And now...  Engage!

Charles Eubanks - Wild West

"I'm late, I'm late!"  That's what I thought to myself this morning as I quickly drew this feller giddyap'n 'cross the prairie.

Adam Heine - Wild West

A different kind of train job.

Marie Criddle - Wild West

Per Joy's suggestion, I'm working on more dynamic poses. Any suggestions on this one? Also, the great thing about more dynamic poses means more flowing hair...my favorite part of drawing! Yeehaw, hair for everyone!

Laura Saterbak - Birds

Topic for 8/1 to 8/6

Guys, it was like a Hitchcock film around here with all those awesome birds. Great job! Are you ready for this week's topic?

THE WILD WEST!

Think cowboys and cattle rustlers and train heists and horses and...well, all them fun parts is up to yew! (Okay, I'll stop with the accent now) And remember, any suggestions that you may have for future topics, please post them in the comments below. Have a great week!
