Adam Heine - Past Topic (Board Games)

I know I said I was gonna redo one of my crap topics, but I really like board games. Guess what I've been playing a lot lately.

Just so you know how big a geek I am, I drew a diagram in the corner to make sure this was a legal checkmate.

And just so you know the kinds of geeks I'm raising, I wasn't planning on drawing all four characters until my 5-year-old son looked at the diagram, looked at the drawing, and said, "Where's the bishop?"

Now you know the truth.

Peter Hong - Past Topic

Been wanting to post this for a long time, and now I finally found occasion for it! I was messing around with this cool drawing website, and was pretty pleased at the way it came out!

Topic for 9/24 to 9/30

Those were some great Chicken Little reinventions, everyone!  I'll never look at that story the same way again.

We have a pretty big change in store for next week -- more on that later!  For this week, let's take a look back...

PAST TOPIC!!!

Maybe there's a week you regret missing.  Or, if you've never missed a week (*cough* Adam *cough*), feel free to revisit a past topic that you really enjoyed.  Just label your post with both "068 Past Topic" as well as the label for the week you chose.

Whee, it's like time travel!

Topic for 9/17 to 9/23

Way to channel your inner cupid/Katniss/Merida/kids with pointy things, guys! It was great to have Emily and Andy join us, too. You guys are always welcome! This week we're venturing back into some nursery tales and animals stories with...

CHICKEN LITTLE!

I can't wait to see Peter put some muscles on the little guy. "The sky is falling cause I told it to." *flex* Good luck! :)

P.S. Any more suggestions for topics, we're always open...put it in the comments!

Charles Eubanks - Archery

The mightiest archer of them all.

If some of the anatomy looks off, I blame the fact that I didn't use any reference.  And if you think this looks like Go Baby...  Well, I guess you're right!

Andy Eubanks - Archery

Andy says, "This is Princess Merida riding her horse and shooting her bow and arrow.  I used a lunch box for reference.  And I also remember this scene from the movie.  In the background, there are tents and bushes.  Behind her, there is a castle.  And in the very back, there are the mountains."

Emily Eubanks - Archery

Emily says, "This is me doing archery!  The arrow is flying through the air!"

Topic for 9/10 to 9/16

Aaa-WOOOO!!!  (That's my big bad wolf impersonation.)  Great job last week, everyone!  It's fun reinventing a classic character, isn't it?

This week's topic is all the rage with tween girls lately:

ARCHERY!!!

From Brave to Hunger Games, today's youth is packin' heat in a whole new way.  (Or is it a whole OLD way?)  Have fun, and be careful not to poke your eye out!

Charles Eubanks - Big Bad Wolf

Here once again is a page from my Three Little Brachiosaurs retelling of the Three little Pigs, which you may remember from the Year In Review topic.  The top sketch was from the quarter-size dummy I first created to work out my composition.  As you can see, I made quite a few staging changes in the final version.  I also decided to rotate the page, so the reader would rotate the entire book and see a tall, vertical two-page spread.  (The rest of the book is a horizontal layout.)  My thinking was that this would emphasize the villain's fury and dominance, yet also foreshadow his vulnerability.  It's the climax of the story, so I felt it was important to thoroughly set him up for his big fall.

Topic for 9/3 to 9/9

Nice Kirking and Spocking, guys! Next week I'll be on my game, I promise. But it makes me want to go watch some of the old series again, so thanks! Ready for this week? Let's venture away from TV and into some older stories with the...

BIG BAD WOLF!

I can just see the teeth now. Grr. Good luck!

Marie Criddle - Star Trek: TOS

So I've had little to no energy to do much of anything this week, so I'm pulling out an old drawing from about a year ago...and I KNOW it's not TOS, but I'm calling in all the cheats today. :D Sorry. Marie out.

Charles Eubanks - Star Trek: TOS

Diplomacy, Captain Kirk style!

In other news, my new scanner arrives on Tuesday, so we won't have to put up with these low-quality scans much longer!  There's only so much Photoshop levels can do...

Peter Hong - Star Trek: TOS

The things that happened off-camera...
