Adam Heine - Pirates

Technically, these are air pirates, from a novel that I really, really hope a certain editor likes and wants to pay me money for (and by "a certain editor," of course, I mean any of the editors my agent sends it to).

Hagai saw Kiro's ship through the spyglass. A rope was tied to the prow, and at the other end, just above the water, Fitch hung by his wrists.
Fitch squirmed, looking at his feet in terror. The ocean underneath him was dark as night, dancing higher than the water around it. Dark water. Fitch shouted something. They were too far away to hear, but Hagai felt sure he was calling for help.

Topic for 3/26 to 4/1

Great job on the ten minute challenges, guys! Serious, the talent we've got packed into our little corner of the web is pretty dang stunning. Are you ready for this week's challenge. ARG, it's a good one!

PIRATES!

I KNOW, RIGHT?!? Woohoo! Charles and I came up with the same topic at the same time, so we're pretty sure it's a sign. Grab your hooks and eye patches and swords and fighter planes and your map of Penzance and stripey pants and---oh yes, of course: your PEN---and go coconuts!

Jaqai Mickelsen - 10 minute challenge

Meetings at work can be a great place for 10 minute challenges...

Peter Hong - 10-Minute Challenge

Speed is definitely not my forte. This was my 2nd try out of three (the other two were too ambitious, so I tried to stick to what I know).

Charles Eubanks - 10-Minute Challenge

Can I still count this as a ten-minute drawing if I spent half an hour cobbling together a camera rig out of an old boom mic stand, and another several hours transcoding and uploading video?  Yes?  Okay, then here you go...

Anthdrawlogy - 10-Minute Challenge (short version) from Charles Eubanks on Vimeo.

Video 1: a 10X sped-up version.  I recommend you play some crazy-fast music while you watch it.

Anthdrawlogy - 10-Minute Challenge (long version) from Charles Eubanks on Vimeo.

Video 2: the long version, complete with intermittent mumbling on my part.  Only watch if you have absolutely nothing better to do.

Adam Heine - 10-Minute Challenge

@citizen_word on Twitter told me to draw a "Robot. Skunk. Or both." This is what came out in ten minutes.

Cindy: "What is it?"
Me: "A skunk? With cyborg attachments?"
Cindy: "That's what I thought."
Me: (hopeful) "Really?"
Cindy: "Honey, I don't even know what a cyborg is."

Jaqai Mickelsen - Mash-ups

In the spirit of "better late than never", here it is. I had the idea and just wanted to see what it would look like.

Marie Criddle - 10-Minute Challenge

10 minutes, I swear! Ribbit!

Christopher Jun Hwang-Ten Minute Challenge!

I could have gone on for 30 more minutes but I stopped because I follow the rules like a good person.

Topic for 3/19 to 3/25

Great mash-ups, you guys!  It's hard coming up with a truly random pairing, isn't it?  I think you all did a wonderful job!

This week's topic is a bit of a departure:

10-Minute Challenge!!!

Draw whatever you want, but spend no more than ten minutes doing so.  This is to help those of you who end up sinking too many hours into your Anthdrawlogy pieces (um, or is that just me?), or those who just don't feel like they have time to participate.  So bust it out in record time, people!  And, for extra credit, feel free to record yourself drawing if you have the means.

Peter Hong - Mash-Ups

Zero points for creativity, but I just couldn't resist after the idea was thrown out there. :P
I worked really small to get these guys all on one page. Here are some microscopic layouts (that got smudged) for poses:

Marie Criddle - Mash-Ups

I actually had a pretty trippy dream of an updated Puff the Magic Dragon series that was more along the lines of "Starsky and Hutch" than a children's song/drug culture theme music.

Puff and Jackie Paper: Honalee PD.

Christopher Jun Hwang-Mash Ups

This is what I look like sometimes.

Charles Eubanks - Mash-Ups

Crustacean Haberdashery.

My other idea was "uvula sweater vest,"  but that turned out more disturbing than I intended.

Adam Heine - Mash-Ups

Bonus points if you know where the guy on the left comes from. Though if you don't, uh... I guess you wouldn't get the joke.

Topic for 3/12 to 3/18

Lovely islands everyone, really! (I was away on my own island all last week, hence my lack of posting. I have no regrets!) This week, we're doing something a little crazy...one might say a little RANDOM. (Thanks to @moonunit999 on twitter for the suggestion!)

MASH-UPS!

The game is to take two random things and find a way to incorporate it in a drawing! Steampunk unicorns (suggestion by @christinecowen!) Bat spies! Fascist tomatoes! Homemaker Batman! Ninja turtles! (oh, wait...)

Good luck, Anthdrawlogians!

Charles Eubanks - Islands

I easily could have kept going a really long time on this one, but decided to leave it rough.

Peter Hong - Islands

Adam Heine - Islands

I tried a couple kinds of islands, including a floating one (that may or may not appear in the sequel of Air Pirates -- a sequel I may or may not ever get to write).

Topic for 3/5 to 3/11

Fantastic red carpets last week, guys!  I'm blinded by all the glitz and glamor!

This week's topic is a departure, you might say... to a land of no phones, no lights, no motor cars:

ISLANDS!!!

What do you think of?  Luxury?  Stranded?  Adventure?  So many possibilities, people!  Have fun!

Charles Eubanks - Red Carpet

Fashion tip: "Fancy dress" has a completely different meaning in the UK than it does in the US.

Jaqai Mickelsen - Red Carpet

It's been a crazy week. So, behold, a doodle from my work notebook (with just a lil' bit of photoshop sweetening.)

Marie Criddle - Red Carpet

I've seen way too much "Toddlers and Tiaras" in the past week. I'm sorry, I know. Perpetuating crimes against humanity and all that. But it was streaming on Netflix and I'm all out of Pawn Stars!
