Peter Hong - Nintendo

Street Fighter II didn't come out until Super Nintendo (hope that still counts), but my brother and I spent hours upon hours (and tons of quarters at the arcade before that) playing the game. One thing I missed about playing at the arcade/store was the diversity of competition. There's nothing like infuriating or getting infuriated at complete strangers with varying skill levels. Sometimes with the home gaming systems, my brother and I only had each other to channel our aggressions onto.

Then they invented the internet...

Totally counts. I spent a ridiculous amount of time on SF2 for the SNES, but I never could get any good with the joystick so I never played much in the arcades. Still, my brothers and I were pretty equal in skill (and anger levels ;-).

That's a fantastic Blanka in particular (I love how his back foot is kept in shadow too).

thanks, man. yeah, i guess starting off with the joystick had its advantages. sometimes i played so much and so violently i got a blister. it wasn't as bad with the controller, but still possible to get nintendo thumb.

Ha ha, I love the boys' inscrutable expressions...I remember giving that scowl to my sister many times before while playing SMB3 (the PvP arena where you could steal the level cards was brutal)

And I love your Blanka...if someone took Chun-Li before me, Blanka was always my #2.

I was always a Guile man myself. I could never pull off Ryu/Ken's dragon punch reliably. IIRC, though, Chun-Li was my #2 :-)

for me, it was originally guile. then ryu/ken, then blanka. of course, bison, when he became playable, and vega. i could comfortably play almost anyone except zangief. yeah, i played a lot. a LOT... ;)
