Thanks, guys! Nope, not from anything. Somewhat inspired by Spaceman Spiff, but I tried not to stick too closely to that. In my earlier drafts, the ship was crash landing instead of blasting off.

Yeah, totally felt Calvin and Hobbes here. Interestingly tho, I think that's more based on the nice clean panel composition than it is the look of the art. (Also, I can't help but notice the alarming lack of a tiger.)

Nice job dude. What weight pencils do you typically draw with? Are you smudging to get this look?

I just use a regular old pencil -- one that happens to have pictures of Snoopy on it (and a nice pine scent when I sharpen it!). Feels like an HB or 2B. And I don't usually smudge (on purpose), but I did a bit this time to smooth out the space background.
