Charles Eubanks - Favorite Books

Gosh dangit, this topic makes me wish I was a better illustrator.  Anyone else feel that way?  I mean, the pressure of drawing your FAVORITE characters?  Too much pressure.

Anyway, I've attempted this one before.  This updated version that features both titular characters.  The book is David and the Phoenix by Edward Ormondroyd, and I can't recommend it highly enough.  Just read it, you guys!

I'm so glad I followed that link. The book's on Gutenberg! And now on my Kindle!

I love the phoenix's head on this. He looks wise, and just a little senile :-)

Woohoo! Thanks for the link...I just downloaded it on my reader, too.

I don't know if this was intentional or not, but I love the way the two postures speak volumes about their relationship...the phoenix arched over David and David leaning into the phoenix. It's really tender...and now I can't wait to read the book. :D
