Charles Eubanks - Muppets

I was camping this weekend, so I didn't have access to my Cintiq.  But, as a wise Muppet once said, the show must go on!  Pencil on watercolor paper.

Side note: can anyone guess where I intentionally went off-model, and why?  Hint: it's not Fozzie's bow.  (That was unintentional, due to lack of reference.)

I had to look up images cuz he looks great to me. Is it Fozzie's eyelids you removed? The better to create his expression (the words for the emotions here are escaping me; can't Google Image search for those ;-).

i dunno where you went off-model, but this is great, and heartwarming, too! did you guys see the latest movie? it was good fun!

I can't comment on the off-model question because I totally and unabashedly cheated and asked him for the answer (tis clever, too), but I still wanted to comment to say, "way to rock the Fozzie, hon!" :)

I can't see a thing off-model! This is so cute and I'm AMAZED you can do it so well without a reference.

The only thing I thought might be different would be Kermit's hands? Usually the muppet has his fingers sewn together but apart just seems friendlier.

So cute. I love their camaraderie. :D

All great guesses! What I was getting at was the eyes, or more to the point, the pupils. IIRC, Fozzie's and Kermit's pupils never moved. But remarkably, it never felt like a blank stare (a huge testament to the puppeteering skills!). But to make my tribute more engaging, I chose to bend the design and make Kermit and Fozzie look each other in the eye.

Oh, and Peter, I never did see the most recent movie! For shame! I really must check it out.

Oh my gosh, I never even thought of that. Of course the pupils don't move! So interesting...and you're right, such a testament to amazing puppeteers to make us think they actually did. :)

And you MUST watch the new movie. Incredibly cute. Incredibly muppet-y.

I totally called the pupils. I am awesome. Or, entirely too much of a muppet geek.

I am also the suck for missing "Muppets" as a weekly theme. Maybe I should go in a gigantic "catch up" brigade - because this one would have been fun.

Awesome, I would LOVE to see your take on the Muppets, Jaqai!
