Peter Hong - Izanami's Choice

It's hard for me to choose between these two. I like the simplicity of this one:
But I also think the shading here adds some depth. Lines are there at the edge of the eyes that I'd rather leave out, though...

Peter Hong - Tattoos

Thank you for extending the deadline, Marie! I started this a long time ago, but never had time to finish until now. It was really cool using Photoshop and a tablet to color again. I have to get used to these tools for the project I'm working on right now. Also, I really liked this movie. Cap is supposed to be in the middle of a fight with Iron Man here when his costume gets ripped in battle! But he has super strong skin, right? Hmmm...maybe not. ;)

Peter Hong - Pixar

I love Pixar movies and I like their mascot Luxo Jr., too. His stance does make me think of this in my current context, though (Thailand...I'm not actually posting this on the potty). I thought it would be fun to depict.

Peter Hong - Back Burner

I actually did this one last year, but was hoping for an opportunity to post it! Thanks, Charles!

Peter Hong - Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Kylo Ren's helmet design reminded me of this. I wonder if it's clearly depicted, though. Anyone know what this is supposed to be?

By the way, have you seen this? I thought it was funny.

Peter Hong - Groot ;)

As I looked at Groot, a lot of things went through my head: 1. It's cool how the words "grow" and "root" can give you his name. 2. He's got no nose, like which other superhero? 3. Maybe Groot's ancestor somehow gave rise to Iron Man. After all, nature came before technology, right?

I did have reference for this, but made some interpretations and changed the head.

Peter Hong - Movember

I haven't drawn a girl in a while, so I thought I'd give it a try while it's still Movember in the States. I like it a lot better sans mustache, though. So...Anyone else gonna take a crack at Movember? ;{>

Peter Hong - Movember

Okay, I got paid to do this promotion for a company that makes nose hair trimmers. They said to make him look like Arnold, so they don't have to pay him. HAHAHA!

Peter Hong - Star Wars Extravaganza

I had a lot of reference for this, but I changed it up a little bit. I did one with a stolen background, but the angle wasn't right, the color of Hobbes blended in with the background, and the speeder color lost some of the detail. Man! All that extra work for nuthin'...

Peter Hong - Star Wars Extravaganza

Here's an old sketch of Darth Maul I did. I found it among some scans from my old sketchbook.

A new one with a new Jedi surrounded by spiritual guides/instructors. He looks similar to the last Jedi I posted. I thought the shadows might work if there was a small round light on top, but maybe not.

Five Minute Drawings

The shapes took longer than five minutes, and then I darkened everything and added some shading. I'm normally not good at drawing fast, and I also got injured recently, so I had this idea and it took me a while to concentrate and practice drawing. Sorry, I cheated a bit. But it was fun! :)

Peter Hong - Imagination

The colors are a lot less subtle than I envisioned (I wanted a blurrier, more realistic rainbow), but hopefully you get the idea.

Peter Hong - Nintendo

Street Fighter II didn't come out until Super Nintendo (hope that still counts), but my brother and I spent hours upon hours (and tons of quarters at the arcade before that) playing the game. One thing I missed about playing at the arcade/store was the diversity of competition. There's nothing like infuriating or getting infuriated at complete strangers with varying skill levels. Sometimes with the home gaming systems, my brother and I only had each other to channel our aggressions onto.

Then they invented the internet...

Peter Hong - Igloos

I had to go dark so the pencil would show up. But now you can see all the specks on the paper. Let's just pretend it's snow...

Peter Hong - Opposite Hand

Drawing lefty is hard! I thought I'd try drawing the And1 guy. Here's a quick sketch of him (which actually took a lot longer than anticipated). Apologies for the lateness. I was in Brazil for a week for my brother's wedding. Afterwards, we stayed at his in-laws' place, which didn't have WiFi. While it was kind of nice to be disconnected, it also turned out to be a bit inconvenient, too.

Peter & Lance Hong - Team Drawing

I was intrigued to find a cartoon animal, iron man, and some sort of sleek futuristic vehicle in Lance's artwork. All this at only 2 years old!

Peter Hong - Jedi

I like the 1st one because it draws out the black and white contrast and makes the blue stand out, but the second one because it bathes everything in blue, and makes the light saber look brighter. Also, the 2nd one left white outlines on the black shapes. What do you guys think?

Peter Hong - Teeth

I went the reference route as well and did a modern version of the Corinthian, a character from Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" comic book series. More info on him here.
